I remain in PDP – Wike dismisses expulsion

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, on Friday, reaffirmed his membership in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

This statement came in response to his purported expulsion by a faction of the party led by Kabiru Turaki.

Turaki’s faction had issued expulsion certificates to 11 prominent PDP figures, including Wike and former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, stating the move was to sanitize the party ahead of the 2027 elections.

Addressing journalists in Abuja after inspecting an interchange road project, Wike dismissed the claim.

He asserted that he would continue collaborating with other members to ensure the PDP remains a strong opposition party.

“Those that are factionalized are bound to leave the party. I’m still in PDP,” Wike stated.

He emphasized that a significant number of members remain, adding, “We will continue to work together… Put your house in order because at the end of the day, if you don’t put your house in order, it’s the party that is losing.”
