The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) state’s Returning Officer for the election, Professor Johnson Urama, declared Ododo winner of the election on Sunday.

The APC candidate polled 446,237, while his closest rival, Alhaji Murtala Yakubu Ajaka, of the Social Democratic Party (PDP), polled 259,052.

Senator Dino Melaye of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) came third with the total votes of 46,362, closely followed by Mr Abejide Leke of the African Democratic Confess with the total votes of 21, 891

However, Ododo’s profile shows he is a former auditor-general for local government in the state.

He enjoyed the advantage of being the only candidate from the central senatorial district of the state, the support of the incumbent Yahaya Bello, and his party (the APC), which leads at the federal level.
