Gov Soludo vows immediate return to work after reelection, extends hand of fellowship to opponents

Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has pledged to resume his duties without delay after being declared the winner of the November 8 governorship election.

Speaking from his home in Isuofia, Governor Soludo expressed gratitude to the people of Anambra for his re-election.

“The people have spoken, and now we must get back to work,” he stated, emphasizing his round-the-clock commitment to the state.

He revealed that even during the vote collation, he was actively engaged in planning the state’s budget.

Soludo commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), specifically praising its ICT unit for the swift and transparent upload of over 90% of polling unit results to the IReV portal by midnight on election day.

He described the election as “resoundingly free, fair, and credible” and expressed hope that this marks a positive trend for Nigeria’s democracy.

In a gesture of unity, the Governor reached out to his 15 opponents from the election.

He highlighted the unique “Anambra spirit,” where political competition is fierce but does not destroy personal relationships.

Soludo extended a “hand of fellowship” and expressed his administration’s readiness to collaborate with all candidates for the state’s progress.

The election featured a diverse field of candidates, including two women vying for governor and six women running for deputy governor.

The final results, announced by the State Returning Officer, showed a total of 595,298 votes were cast, with 584,054 being valid.
