Gale of resignations in Ondo as CPS, Special Adviser resign


There is a gale of resignations in Ondo State following the death of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu on Wednesday.
As more resignations are being awaited, especially because of the crisis before Akeredolu’s death and the swearing in of his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, as Acting Governor, the Chief Press Secretary to former Governor, Richard Olatunde, and the Special Adviser on Union Matters, Mr. Dare Aragbaiye, have both resigned.
Their resignations were contained in separate letters they personally signed and addressed to the Secretary to the Ondo State Government.
In his letter, Olatunde stated that he resigned due to the death of his former boss, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, who he described as an administrator per Excellence and a rare gem.
Also, the Special Adviser to Ondo State Government on Union Matters, Mr. Dare Aragbaiye, said his decision to resign is based on the demise of his principal, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu who succumbed to death in the early hours of today after a prolonged sickness.
According to him, Akeredolu is a fearless and honest leader and whom he remained loyal to even in death.
In the letter he personally signed on Wednesday, he stated, “I write to refer to the subject above and to resign my appointment as the Special Adviser to the Governor on Union Matters and Special Duties with effect from today, Wednesday, 27 December, 2023.
“My decision to resign is based on the unfortunate death of my Principal, a fearless and honest leader, Governor Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odurayo Akeredolu, SAN.CON, whom I am loyal to even in death.
“I sincerely thank his excellency for the opportunity granted me to serve in his administration as a member of the State Executive Council, first as a Head of Service and now, Special Adviser.
” Please accept the assurances of my esteemed regards.”
