The lifeless body of a female lecturer of the Department of Biochemistry, School of Life Sciences, Federal University of Technology (FUT) Minna in Niger State, Dr. (Mrs) Adefolalu Funmilola Sherifat was found in her residence in the Gbaiko Area of the town on Sunday.

The throat of the female lecturer was slit with a knife found around her dead body, in the pool of her blood.

The FUT Minna chairperson of the Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU),  Professor Gbolahan Bolarin, was said to have confirmed the incident.

Professor Bolarin said her body was discovered on Sunday morning when her church members traced her home after she was not seen during service.

Residents said the body was found after the door of her house was forced open.

Police authorities later moved the body to the mortuary.

The spokesman of the Niger Police Command Wasiu Abiodun said investigations had commenced on the incident.

Residents said the late varsity teacher’s husband – who was a professor in the same school – had died earlier.

She was said to have engaged a female house help, who was staying with her. She, however, laid her off on Friday.
