Fuel Tanker Explosion Causes Traffic Gridlock in Ondo
A fuel tanker explosion disrupted the Soka area of Ore, in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State, on Saturday evening, creating chaos and severe traffic congestion.
The incident occurred around 6:30 PM when the tanker veered off the road and plunged into a ditch. Moments later, it burst into flames, producing thick plumes of smoke that reduced visibility and caused panic among residents and commuters.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with people scrambling for safety as the fire spread.
Speaking to Channels Television, the Ondo State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Samuel Ibitoye, confirmed the explosion but noted that no fatalities had been reported.
Emergency responders are currently managing the situation and working to clear the road. Residents and commuters have been urged to avoid the area for their safety.
