Flood: NGF visits Borno, as govs pledge support over disaster
A high-level delegation of the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF), led by its Chairman, Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulrahman AbdulRazak, was in Maiduguri onThursday to show solidarity with Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, over the flood in the state capital.
In the delegation, besides the NGF chairman, are Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni as well as some National Assembly members.
On arrival, the NGF Chairman and his entourage paid a courtesy call on Governor Zulum at the Council Chamber of the Government House in Maiduguri.
During the visit, they expressed their sympathy and condolences to the governor, government, and people of Borno for the loss and destruction caused by the flooding.
They also offered prayers for the repose of those who lost their lives and for God to grant the people the fortitude to bear the loss.
Governor Zulum welcomed the NGF Chairman and his entourage, expressing his deepest appreciation for their visit and show of concern. He also prayed for God to reward them abundantly for their kindness and prayers.
Governor Zulum toured the city with the governors to assess the situation regarding the flood and extent of the damage caused by the disaster.
During the tour, the governors witnessed firsthand the devastation caused by the flooding, including the destruction of homes, businesses, and infrastructure. They also saw the displacement of people and the suffering of the affected communities.
The visit by the NGF Chairman and his entourage was a show of solidarity and support for the people of Borno in their time of need.
It also demonstrated the commitment of the Nigerian Governors Forum to stand together and support each other in times of crisis.
