Fire Service saves N108m properties in Kwara
The Kwara State Fire Service saved properties worth over N108 million in a fire disaster which occurred in a two storey building comprising 33 shops in Ilorin on Thursday.
The fire incident occurred at about 21:43hrs on Thursday night at No. 102, Opposite C&S Church, along Muritala Mohammed Way in Ilorin Kwara State capital.
A statement by the spokesman of the state fire service, Hassan Hakeem Adekunle, in Ilorin, on Friday, said the leading officer of the firefighters rescue crew that responded to the incident, said they arrived promptly at the scene and were able to limit the damage caused by the ravaging fire to a single shop.
Value of goods destroyed by the fire in the lone shop was put at N542,000.
The officer added further that the cause of the fire incident was due to power surge.
The Director, Kwara State Fire, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, has urged citizens of Kwara to be more safety conscious.
He further warned them never to leave any of their electrical devices plugged in if they were not at their homes or offices.
