The Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, has officially commissioned the restored Digital Industrial Park in Kano, marking a significant milestone in Nigeria’s grassroots digital transformation agenda.

The facility, originally completed in 2024 but vandalized during the nationwide protests of August 1st, has been fully rehabilitated through the intervention of IHS Towers and is now ready for immediate operation.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Tijani emphasized Kano’s readiness for digital advancement, citing the state’s highest number of applicants for the Federal Government’s 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme.

He lauded the youth for their enthusiasm and commitment to embracing technology.

In recognition of his contributions to digital innovation, the Kano State Government, represented by Deputy Governor Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, conferred on Dr. Tijani the traditional title of “Sarkin Yakin Digitalization” (Grand Commander of Digitalization).

The event was attended by top government officials, traditional leaders, and private sector stakeholders. Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf commended Dr. Tijani’s dedication and highlighted the importance of public-private partnerships in boosting the digital economy.

With the park now operational, expectations are high for increased tech innovation, job creation, and digital inclusion across Northern Nigeria.

IHS Towers’ representative, Mr. Kazeem Oladepo, pledged continued support for Kano’s IT development, promising further collaborations to foster inclusive digital growth.

The details of the event were disclosed in a press statement by Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Waiya.
