FG dismisses alleged poor conditions of detained Binance executive, Tigran Gambaryan

The Federal Government has dismissed recent claims describing the treatment and conditions of detention of Binance Executive, Tigran Gambaryan in Nigeria as poor.
A statement by Mohammed Idris, Minister of Information and National Orientation, Gambaryan is held in lawful detention under conditions that ensure access to quality medical care as needed.
The statement also stated that Gambaryan enjoys full access to consular services from his home government.
The government restated its commitment to upholding Gambaryan’s fundamental rights, including the right to a lawful trial and comprehensive care, including healthcare.
The statement stressed that his detention is on the order of a court, clarifying that any alteration of terms or directives for release would be subject to the court’s authority.
The statement concluded by reiterating Nigeria’s dedication to legal and diplomatic standards, affirming the country’s commitment to justice and the integrity of its judicial processes.
The government assured that, ”The executive is being treated with the utmost fairness, and his legal and human rights are being protected throughout the judicial proceedings.”
Yuki Gambaryan, the wife of Tigran, had urged Nigerian authorities to comply with a court order to transfer her husband from Kuje prison to a hospital for medical care.
In a press statement, she expressed her devastation over the continued detention of her ailing husband despite the court’s directive.
Mrs Gambaryan called on President Bola Tinubu’s government to adhere to the court’s order and facilitate her husband’s transfer to a medical facility.
