FG declares Wednesday, Thursday, December 25 & 26 as Christmas holidays
The Federal Government has announced public holidays for the festive season, designating Wednesday, December 25, and Thursday, December 26, 2024, for Christmas and Boxing Day celebrations, as well as Wednesday, January 1, 2025, for the New Year.
This announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani. The Minister extended warm greetings to all Nigerians and encouraged them to use the holidays as an opportunity to reflect on the values of love, peace, and unity that the season embodies.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo highlighted the significance of the season as a time to promote harmony and strengthen relationships within families and communities. He urged citizens to remain dedicated to the peace, unity, and progress of the nation, essential for national development.
“The Christmas season is an ideal time for spiritual reflection and national renewal. As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, the Prince of Peace, let us show kindness and goodwill to one another, regardless of our differences,” he stated.
He reassured Nigerians of the Federal Government’s commitment to maintaining peace, security, and prosperity nationwide.
The Minister also conveyed his wishes for a joyous Christmas and a prosperous New Year, expressing optimism that the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu’s administration will bring about significant economic progress and make the nation a global example of prosperity.
