FG Declares Monday, Tuesday as Public Holidays for Eid-el-Fitr

The Federal Government has announced Monday, 31st March, and Tuesday, 1st April 2025, as public holidays to mark Eid-el-Fitr.

The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the declaration on Wednesday, congratulating Muslim faithful on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast. 

In a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Magdalene Ajani, the minister highlighted the significance of Ramadan in fostering self-discipline, compassion, and spiritual growth.

He urged Muslims to uphold the values of love, generosity, and peace while promoting national unity and religious harmony. 

Tunji-Ojo called on Nigerians to use the festive period to pray for the nation’s peace, stability, and prosperity.

“As we celebrate Eid-el-Fitr, let us reflect on the lessons of Ramadan, embrace one another with love and forgiveness, and work together to build a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria,” he said. 

The minister also encouraged citizens to celebrate responsibly, prioritize safety, and extend kindness to the less privileged in keeping with the spirit of Ramadan and Eid. 

On behalf of the Federal Government, Tunji-Ojo wished Muslims a joyful Eid Mubarak, praying that the season’s blessings bring happiness and fulfilment to all.
