Former Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has dismissed claims that he co-founded the African Democratic Congress (ADC) alongside ex-Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi.
The rebuttal follows Amaechi’s alleged statement in an X Spaces conversation, where he claimed that the ADC coalition began with a meeting between himself, Fayemi, and others at the residence of Nasiru Danu.
According to Amaechi, the discussion—initiated by APC’s former North-West Vice Chairman, Salihu Mohammed—later expanded to include figures like Senator Aminu Tambuwal.
However, Fayemi, through his media office, refuted the claim, stating there was no credible evidence or reputable media report to support Amaechi’s assertion.
His Head of Media, Mallam Sajoh, described the allegation as potentially fabricated, emphasizing that Fayemi remains a committed member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The statement read: “Despite extensive checks, we found no verified record of Mr. Amaechi’s claim. In an era of misinformation, we urge caution against unverified narratives. Dr. Fayemi remains a leader in the APC, actively supporting its growth and Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s re-election bid in Ekiti.”
Fayemi’s camp reiterated his unwavering allegiance to the APC, noting his continued advocacy for the party’s ideals. The statement also highlighted his broad political network, which transcends partisan and regional divides.
Meanwhile, Amaechi has yet to provide further clarification or evidence regarding his alleged remarks.
