Ex-Lagos Gov. Ambode Reaffirms Support for Tinubu Ahead of 2027 Election

Former Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has publicly declared his steadfast support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027. Reiterating his loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ambode vowed to fully back the president’s campaign.

In a statement issued yesterday, Ambode dismissed recent rumors suggesting he was planning to run for governor under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), labeling such reports as “false and misleading” attempts to create division.

“I want to unequivocally reaffirm my unwavering loyalty to the APC, the party under which I served as Lagos State governor in 2015, and to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, my leader, mentor, and a dedicated advocate for Nigeria’s advancement,” Ambode said.

He commended Tinubu’s leadership, describing him as a “results-driven and visionary leader” whose administration has implemented critical reforms in pensions, student loans, youth empowerment, and economic growth.

Ambode also highlighted key accomplishments under Tinubu’s presidency, including the end of fuel scarcity, enhanced security, and policies aimed at improving citizens’ welfare.

“His focused, determined, and inclusive governance is bringing hope and real progress to Nigerians. With another term, I am confident the nation will witness even greater achievements,” Ambode stated.

Calling on party members and Nigerians to disregard political distractions, he pledged to mobilize support for the APC and ensure Tinubu’s victory in 2027.

“Let there be no doubt: I stand firmly with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC. Together, we will secure victory in 2027 to continue delivering democratic dividends to all Nigerians,” Ambode affirmed.

His statement comes amid shifting political dynamics ahead of the 2027 elections, with Ambode making it clear that his allegiance remains with the APC and its leadership.

Dele Fashomi is now the Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of Newstide247.com newspaper online, which he started in July 2015. He is also into biography writing, with many books in his trail, some of which he wrote alone and one he co- authored with his mentor, Mr Dare Babarinsa, entitled:  Olabiyi Durojaiye – DARE TO BE DiFFERENT. He also guided and collaborated with Pa Olatunji Odusanya in writing his autobiography – AGAINST ALL ODDS. There are many other books in the works under his pen.
