Enugu Gov explains South-East’s shift to APC, endorsing Tinubu for 2027
Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has explained the growing movement of South-East politicians toward the All Progressives Congress (APC), as well as the region’s decision to endorse President Bola Tinubu for re-election in 2027.
Speaking at a South-East APC stakeholders’ meeting in Enugu, Mbah described the shift as a pragmatic realignment with the federal government, which he said is already yielding benefits for the region.
He highlighted several federal projects underway in the South-East—including energy development, the revival of the Eastern Rail Line, and the concession of Enugu International Airport—as evidence that partnering with the central government is driving progress. Mbah stated that the endorsement of Tinubu reflects a strategic choice to unify the region politically and move away from fragmented approaches that have hindered development.
He called the Renewed Hope Agenda more than a slogan, emphasizing that alignment between state and federal visions is essential for long-term growth.
