The 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has urged youths in the state to refrain from violence against non-indigenous residents following the killing of 16 Hausa travelers in Uromi, Edo State.

Sanusi, who spoke on Sunday after leading Eid-el-Fitr prayers at Kofar Mata Eid ground, condemned plans for reprisal attacks, warning against lawlessness.

“We received reports that some youths planned retaliatory actions after Eid prayers. We strongly advise against such acts and appeal for calm,” Sanusi stated.

He called on traditional leaders to remain vigilant and urged authorities to ensure justice for the victims by investigating and prosecuting those responsible for the killings.

Additionally, the emir encouraged Muslims to uphold the values of Ramadan, avoiding wrongdoing and promoting peace.
