El-Rufai’s son pledges unwavering loyalty to APC amid father’s political defection

Kaduna North representative declares he ‘will never do anything against my party’s interest’

Hon. Mohammed Bello El-Rufai, the House of Representatives member for Kaduna North, has reaffirmed his steadfast commitment to the All Progressives Congress (APC), vowing not to undermine the party despite his father’s widening political distance from it.

The lawmaker, son of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai—now associated with the African Democratic Congress (ADC)—issued the declaration via his verified X handle in response to a social media user who suggested he had aligned with his father’s new political trajectory.

“I love my father. I respect Asiwaju. I will never do anything against my party’s interest as long as I am a member. But I will never compromise my principles,” Bello wrote.

The federal legislator emphasised that his political and moral obligations transcend individual relationships, asserting that his ultimate accountability rests with God and his constituents.

“After all, God is bigger than PMB, Asiwaju, Mallam, and Buhari, and it is God and Kaduna North who will judge me,” he stated.

Bello underscored that his oath of office was sworn on the Qur’an, the Nigerian Constitution, and the APC Constitution—a triple commitment to due process and party discipline.

“My oath was with the Qur’an, the Constitution, and the APC Constitution,” he added.

The Kaduna North representative also issued a pointed warning to critics attempting to embroil him in political controversies, declaring: “Any data boy and his sponsor will bow before me whenever I need them to once they try to drag me. And that’s what it is.”
