EFCC Quizzes Former Sokoto Governor, Senator Aminu Tambuwal, Over Alleged N189bn Fraud
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is currently interrogating Aminu Tambuwal, the former governor of Sokoto State and a serving senator, over allegations of fraudulent cash withdrawals amounting to N189 billion.
Tambuwal is being held in Abuja as the anti-graft agency investigates the claims.
This development follows accusations by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) that the EFCC is engaging in selective investigations, primarily targeting opposition figures.
However, a statement issued by the ADC National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, alleged that recent summonses to senior opposition members were politically motivated and tied to their affiliations.
The party further claimed that some of the cases being revisited by the EFCC are not based on fresh evidence but involve reopening old files from previous years.
