In a letter of official invitation signed by Michael Wetkas, acting director of the Lagos directorate of the EFCC, the commission direcdirected the Okoya brothers to report to the head of the special operations team at its office located at 15A Awolowo Road by 10 a.m. on Monday, January 13, 2025.

The Okoya brothers were seen in a promotional video for a new song, spraying the naira notes.

The incident, which attracted the attention of the public, was criticized for the alleged abuse of the naira.

Consequently, it sparked concerns about the image and sanctity of the national currency, over which some dignitaries have been sanctioned by the EFCC.

However, the Nigeria Police Force has made a clarification to address the public outcry surrounding a viral video featuring a police officer assisting the Okoya brothers during a controversial money-spraying event.

While the Police had stated that it had sanctioned its officer involved in the case, it believed that it was left for other agencies responsible for investigating cases of naira abuse to their work.

The police, however, was silent on identifying the EFCC as being responsible for sanctioning Nigerians over Naira abuse.

Indeed, the Okoya brothers are expected to clarify their involvement in the controversial video, which has generated significant public debate.
