Eddie Nketiah’s move to Marseille collapses as French club signs Eyle Wahi

Olympique Marseille’s deal to sign striker Eddie Nketiah from Arsenal Football Club has collapsed as the French club has moved to sign another Eyle Wahi instead.
Marseille had submitted a new offer to lure Nketiah away from the English Premier League (EPL) after not making a headway with two initial bids.
The French club has reportedly tabled the sum of £16.8million (€20m) to sign the 25-year-old player after their initial bid to sign the striker was rejected by Arsenal.
David Ornstein of The Athletic (via Football. London) said the amount tabled by Marseille way off the valuation of the striker but talks between the two clubs are still ongoing.
Ornstein noted that a significant agreement has already been achieved, with the striker accepting the transfer to France and signing a five-year contract to join De Zerbi’s team.
But Fabrizio Romano, in a report published on the X page (formerly Twitter) states that Olympique Marseille has informed Arsenal that Nketiah’s deal can be considered 100% collapsed.
“Marseille didn’t want to accept a €30 million package for the striker after two rejected bids, despite the player’s willingness to move to France,” he wrote.
Romano has revealed that Marseille has signed Bilel Wahi for a €25 million fixed fee plus €5 million in add-ons, with his former club RC Lens also having a 15% sell-on clause.
‘‘Eyle Wahi to Olympique Marseille, here we go! Deal in place for €25m fixed fee plus €5m add-ons. RC Lens will also have a 15% sell-on clause.
‘‘Five-year deal agreed, Wahi made efforts to accept OM project presented by Longoria, Benatia, de Zerbi,” he wrote on his official X page.
