Both governors, members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), discussed regional growth during the visit. Governor Fubara, in a statement on social media platform X, described the meeting as a heartwarming moment of brotherhood, emphasizing their shared vision for development.

“Today, we welcomed Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State on a Christmas visit to Rivers State. It sure was a heartwarming moment of brotherhood based on our shared commitment to regional growth,” Fubara wrote.

Meanwhile, Governor Fubara earlier thanked the people of Rivers State for their steadfast support amid recent challenges. Speaking at a Christmas Ballad hosted by former Governor Peter Odili, he acknowledged their encouragement and credited God for his strength and resolve.

“I get stronger every day when I look at the support I am getting from the true Rivers people. My strength is drawn from every one of you,” Fubara said. “But we also believe strongly that the ultimate game changer, the ultimate liberator, and the ultimate fighter still remains God Almighty. And because we have Him on our side, victory is assured.”
