Disown your aide’s statement or face fresh revelations in 48hrs, Fayose gives Atiku ultimatum

Former Governor Ayo Fayose has fired back at former Vice President Atiku Abubakar after a comment by one of his aides triggered a war of words over Governor Seyi Makinde’s recent visit to Atiku in Minna.

In a personally signed statement, Fayose gave Atiku 48 hours to publicly disown remarks made by his media aide, Paul Ibe—or risk the release of fresh details about what transpired during the meeting. Fayose alleged that Makinde had gone to Minna to seek consideration as Atiku’s running mate for the 2027 election, a precondition to joining the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

“I saw the response of one Paul Ibe … to my release on what transpired at his meeting in Minna … and I can’t but be amused,” Fayose said. “Because of my respect for Atiku, I will want to assume that he did not authorise the press statement and I will expect that after seeing it, he will within 48 hours, cause a rebuttal to be issued on it.”

He warned that failure to do so would force him to “spill more beans (the facilitators and executioners) of the Minna meeting, particularly what was said about Wike.” Fayose added, “Till then, we keep our gunpowder dry.”
