Delta Gov condemns killing of Nigerian military personnel in Ughelli, promises justice

The Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, has strongly condemned the killing of officers and soldiers attached to the 63 Brigade at Okuama community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of the state.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Festus Ahon, Governor Oborevwori expressed deep sorrow over the incident and extended his condolences to the military and the families of the deceased.

Describing the attack as contrary to the values and culture of Deltans, Governor Oborevwori emphasized that such violence goes against the principles of peace and security that the state government is striving to promote through its MORE agenda.

“The government of Delta State is gravely disturbed by the violence and unprovoked killing of the officers and soldiers, which is alien to the culture of Deltans,” the statement read.

Governor Oborevwori assured that the state government would take all necessary measures to identify and apprehend the perpetrators of the heinous act and ensure they face the full weight of the law.

He reiterated Delta State’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring the safety and security of its citizens.

“On behalf of the Government and good people of Delta State, I wish to condole, in particular, the families of the killed gallant officers and soldiers, the Nigerian Army and the Armed Forces of Nigeria in general, over this sad occurrence,” the governor stated.

The governor urged all residents of the state to remain law-abiding and assured that the government would continue to prioritize the protection of lives and property in Delta State.

“Delta State is governed within the tenets of the rule of law and human decency. Acts such as this incident cannot and will not be tolerated,” Governor Oborevwori affirmed.
