Dejumo Lewis, veteran Nigerian actor, dies at 80

Veteran actor , Dejumo Lewis, popularly known for his role of King (Oloja of Oja) in the television series, Village Headmaster, is dead.

Aged 80, news of the demise of Lewis broke in the morning of Saturday, 23 December, 2023.

The new was also confirmed by Saheed Balogun who wrote, “Good night DEJUMO LEWIS, may your soul rest in perfect peace. RIP.” on his social media page.

Lewis was a Nigerian film and television actor, famous for the Kabiyesi role he played in The Village Headmaster, Nigeria’s longest-running television soap opera shown on NTA from 1968 to 1988. The soap opera also starred Funsho Adeolu, JAB Adu, Ibidun Allison, Justus Esiri and Femi Robinson and many others.

Lewis is also known for his memorable performances in acclaimed films such as “A Place in the Stars” (2014), “Crossroads” (2020), and “Power of 1” (2018).
