The management of Osun State University has asked newly admitted candidates who are below the 2020 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) required age to defer their admission.
The Federal Government had regulated the age of candidates qualified to be admitted into tertiary institutions.
The 2020 UTME brochure had stipulated that candidates must have attained 16 years or would have done so on the first day of October in the year of his/her candidature.
Following the federal governments directive, the Vice-Chancellor of the Osun State University, Professor Laboode Popoola during a press briefing said the institution, in its mercy, had concluded to defer the admissions of the candidates.
He noted that, though the candidates did not follow the guidelines of the UTME before seeking admission, they would be allowed to defer since they merited it.
Prof Laboode disclosed that the candidates can seek a refund which will not allow them automatic admission to the institution or defer the admission to the next academic year.
Reacting to rumours of fees increment in the school, the VC said UNIOSUN has not increased school fee since 2017.
