Court of Appeal Overturns Ruling, Affirms Oba Ghandi Olaoye as Soun of Ogbomoso

The Court of Appeal in Ibadan has vacated an order nullifying the appointment of Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ghandi Olaoye.
Consequently, the Court of Appeal judgement affirmed the selection and installation of Oba Olaoye as the Soun of Ogbomoso.
Specifically, this decision overturns the October 25, 2023 ruling by Justice K. A. Adedokun of the Oyo State High Court, which nullified Oba Olaoye’s installation due to irregularities in the nomination process.
Justice Yargata Nimpar leading a three-man panel of justices, resolved all 10 grounds of appeal in favour of Oba Olaoye.
The initial nullification was hinged on the claim that the selection process did not comply with the provisions of the Soun Chieftaincy Declaration of 1958.
However, the Court of Appeal has now set aside that judgement, reaffirming Oba Olaoye’s position as the Soun of Ogbomoso.
