The Oyo State High Court in Ibadan, presided over by Justice Kamorudeen Olawoyin, has granted bail to Naomi Silekunola, ex-wife of the Ooni of Ife; Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat, owner of Agidigbo FM; and Abdullahi Fasasi, Principal of Islamic High School, Bashorun.

Oriyomi Hamzat was granted bail with a bond of ₦10 million and two sureties, with the condition that his media organisation refrains from broadcasting news related to the case.

The defendants were remanded after a bail hearing last Tuesday, where their counsel argued that they posed no flight risk and would cooperate with investigations.

The Attorney General of Oyo State, Abiodun Aikomo, opposed the motion, emphasizing the gravity of the charges stemming from the December 2024 stampede that killed over 35 children during a festive party at Islamic High School.

The court’s decision follows Governor Seyi Makinde’s statement supporting both the trial of those involved and the possibility of bail for the accused.
