Controversial Activist VeryDarkMan in EFCC Custody After Arrest, Legal Team Alleges GTBank Link

Social media activist, Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has been taken into custody by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), his legal team confirmed.

Human rights lawyer Deji Adeyanju, who is leading VDM’s defense, stated that the influencer was transferred to the EFCC shortly after his arrest by police in Abuja on Friday, May 2.

Adeyanju revealed that a legal team, headed by Barrister Marvin Omorogbe, visited the EFCC facility but VDM refused to meet with them.

“He said he wouldn’t see anyone,” Adeyanju shared, suggesting the ordeal has taken a toll on the outspoken critic.

Adeyanju also accused Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) of aiding in the arrest, claiming VDM was detained at the bank’s exit long enough for security operatives to apprehend him.

The legal team is now considering action against GTBank, calling it a “coordinated setup.” A formal statement on their next steps is expected soon.

VDM’s arrest followed his public accusations against GTBank over alleged unauthorized transactions from his mother’s account.

The EFCC has yet to comment on the situation.
