CDS Condemns Killing of Hunters in Edo, Urges Public to Report Suspects to Security Agencies

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has strongly condemned the killing of hunters in Edo State, describing the incident as avoidable had security agencies been properly notified.
The tragic event, which occurred on March 28, 2025, involved hunters who were attacked while in transit. General Musa emphasized that prior coordination with security authorities could have helped verify the victims’ identities and prevented the violence.
Extending his condolences, the CDS sympathized with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, as well as the bereaved families.
He urged Nigerians to refrain from taking the law into their own hands and instead report security concerns to the police, military, or other authorized agencies.
General Musa assured the public that the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) would collaborate with law enforcement to ensure the perpetrators face justice. He also called on local hunters and vigilante groups to register with the police, DSS, or other regulatory bodies overseeing firearms possession.
The Defence Chief further appealed for calm and encouraged citizens to support security agencies in carrying out their constitutional duties effectively.
