CAN condemns attack on RCCG church, asks Niger Govt to unmask culprits
The Chairman of the Niger State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Most Reverend Bulus Dauwa Yohanna, has condemned the recent arson on the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Champion Zonal Headquarters, on Federal College of Education (FCE) Road, Minna.
Reverend Yohanna lamented that the church was set ablaze by suspected hoodlums, describing the incident as barbaric.
Rev. Yohanna, who expressed deep sorrow, urged the Niger State Government to take swift and decisive to ensure that those responsible for the attack are brought to justice.
According to him, “There is freedom of worship in Niger State. I am confident that once the government and security agencies take appropriate action, it will go a long way in addressing any tensions that could escalate beyond control.”
The attack occurred at 3 a.m. on Saturday, August 10, as reported by an Assistant Pastor of the church, Pastor Samson Ogbebor.
The church, which has been in the community for 20 years, has been previous attacked by hoodlums.
