Brigadier-General John Shagaya, the longest serving Interior Minister under military President Ibrahim Babangida, is dead.
He reportedly died in a car crash on Sunday on his way to Jos, the Plateau State capital. He was coming from Lantang, his homestead.
Shagaya, a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, was the pioneer chairman of the party.
his death was confirmed to the media by his eldest son, Colonel Nansak Shagaya.
The deceased was appointed Chairman of the Governing Board of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies NIPSS, Kuru by President Muhammadu Buhari in December last year.
