Breaking: President Tinubu appoints ambassadors to France, US, UK, Turkey

President Bola Tinubu has authorized the postings of four ambassador-designates to major diplomatic posts in France, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Turkey.

The announcement was made on Thursday by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy. He stated that these appointments are drawn from the list of 68 nominees confirmed by the Senate in December.

The assigned postings are: Ambassador Ayodele Oke is posted to France, Colonel Lateef Are will serve in the United States, Ambassador Amin Dalhatu, formerly Nigeria’s ambassador to South Korea, is appointed as the High Commissioner-designate to the United Kingdom, and Usman Isa Dakingari Suleiman, a former governor of Kebbi State, is the ambassador-designate to Turkey.

Onanuga highlighted the significance of the Turkish appointment, noting that President Tinubu is scheduled to undertake a state visit to Turkey in the coming week.

The approvals have been formally communicated to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The President directed the ministry to notify the governments of the respective countries in accordance with standard diplomatic protocols.

These postings follow the Senate’s confirmation in December of a total of 67 ambassadorial nominees, comprising both career diplomats and non-career appointees.

That confirmed list included several prominent figures such as former ministers, former state governors, and former heads of government agencies.
