Jibrin Barau, representing Kano South, was elected unopposed for the position of Deputy Senate President.

Barau emerged following his nomination by the former Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi.

A member-elect (Kwara North), Salisu Mustapha, supported the nomination.

Barau accepted the nomination and emerged as the Deputy Senate President of the 10th Assembly unopposed.
