Breaking: Ex-Science and Technology Minister, Ogbonnaya Onu, dies at 71

A former Science and Technology Minister in the President Muhammadu Buhari administration, Chief Ogbonnaya Onu, is dead.

Onu, who was the first civilian governor in Abia State and a presidential aspirant in the 2023 election, died in Abjua on Thursday at 71 years.

Details of the cause of death are not clear yet, however indications are that Chief Onu was battling with an undisclosed ailment.

Onu’s last major public appearance was during the APC primary election in 2022 when he alleged injustice against the people of South-East.

Onu was appointed Minister of Science and Technology by former President Buhari in November 2015.

He, however, resigned as minister on May 6, 2022 to join the APC presidential race, which he lost to President Bola Tinubu.
