Breaking: Biden finally bows out US 2024 presidential race, endorses VP Kamala Haris

Presidential Joe Biden has dropped his decision to seek reelection in the United 2024 presidentual race, endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris.

President Biden’s move is after mounting calls from Democrats for him to end his reelection bid.

Indeed, President Biden failed to convince prominent members of his own party that he can defeat former President Donald Trump in November after his poor performance at the CNN presidential debate in June. It’s the first time a US president has exited a reelection run in decades.

However, with Biden out of the race, individual delegates will need to select the party’s nominee either during a virtual roll call tentatively scheduled for early August, or on the convention floor in Chicago next month.

Trump, reacting In a phone call with CNN minutes after Biden announced his exit from the race, described Biden as “the worst president by far in the history of our country.”

President Biden’s final decision to leave the race was reached in the last 48 hours, a senior campaign adviser said, as he consulted family and top advisers by telephone.

He did not have a final in-person meeting with his top campaign or White House advisers as he recovered from Covid-19 at his beach home in Rehoboth, Delaware.

The adviser said the president “was not dug in,” but was studying all of the data coming in and became convinced he would “weigh down” the ticket and be a distraction and complication to defeat former President Donald Trump.
