Borno Police Avert Explosion, Recover Three Missiles in Maiduguri

The Borno State Police Command has successfully recovered three projectile missiles in the Dala Kafanti area of Maiduguri, effectively averting a potential explosion.

In a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, the incident occurred on January 2, 2025, when a resident, Asabe James, reported spotting a suspicious sack behind her house.

“Upon receiving the report at about 9:25 AM, the Command’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD-CBRN Base 13) team swiftly moved to the scene, cordoned off the area, and recovered three projectiles from the sack,” Daso stated.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the ordnance had been dropped by unknown individuals earlier that morning. In response, the police educated the community on Explosive Ordnance Risk Awareness (EORE) and provided safety guidelines to prevent similar incidents.

2. Be aware of your surroundings and potential escape routes.

3. Maintain a safe distance from suspicious objects.

4. Do not touch or move the object.

5. Evacuate the area immediately.

6. Report to authorities promptly with accurate details.
