Bayero Rejects Appeal Court Judgment, Heads to Supreme Court Over Sanusi’s Reinstatement as Emir of Kano
Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero has rejected the Appeal Court’s decision which nullified a Federal High Court ruling that removed Muhammadu Sanusi II as the 16th Emir of Kano.
Bayero announced his intention to appeal the verdict at the Supreme Court.
Speaking to journalists at the Nasarawa Palace of the 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Babba DanAgundi, who filed the suit dismissed by the Appeal Court, criticized Sanusi for misleading the public about his victory.
He emphasized that the original case was not about the powers of the State Assembly to repeal laws, but about the lack of fair hearing in the removal of the 15th Emir, Aminu Ado Bayero.
DanAgundi also warned Sanusi to stop presenting himself as Emir, asserting that the Appeal Court’s ruling clarified that Bayero had been denied a fair hearing.
He called on security agencies to prevent Sanusi from allegedly inciting unrest in Kano, insisting that Bayero would only be dethroned following a Supreme Court ruling.
