Azuta-Mbata emerges Ohanaeze President-General
A new President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo has been election. He is Senator John Azuta-Mbata.
Azuta-Mbata was elected through a consensus arrangement at the Ohanaeze General Assembly in Enugu on Friday.
Many South-East governors, including Governors Peter Mbah, Hope Uzodinma, Chukwuma Soludo of Enugu, Imo and Anambra States attended the General Assembly.
Ohanaeze President General’s position has been zoned to Rivers State where Mbata is from.
Mbata, a former lawmaker, who represented Rivers East at the National Assembly, will succeed Nze Ozichukwu Fidelis Chukwu, appointed to complete the tenure of the late Chief Emmanuel lwuanyanwu from Imo State.
Prince Okey Nwadinobi from Abia State was elected as the National Deputy President, while Chief Emeka Sibeidu from Anambra State is the new Secretary General of the Igbo group
Before his emergence, both Dr Jackson Omenazu and Uche Okwukwu were also announced as President General by factional election committees.
