Atiku Leads High-Profile Delegation to Visit Buhari in Kaduna, Sparks 2027 Political Speculations

Former Vice President and 2023 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, on Friday, visited ex-President Muhammadu Buhari at his Kaduna residence alongside a prominent delegation of political leaders.
The visit, part of Atiku’s post-Eid-el-Fitr engagements, had been delayed due to his traditional duties as Waziri Adamawa, where he represented the Lamido of Adamawa, HRH Dr. Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Musdafa, during Sallah celebrations in the state.
Among the delegation were former Kaduna State governor, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai; ex-Sokoto governor and current senator, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal; and former Adamawa governor, Senator Bindow Jibrilla. The gathering has fueled talks of potential political realignments ahead of the 2027 elections.
Other attendees included former Benue governor, Senator Gabriel Suswam; ex-Imo governor, Chief Achike Udenwa; Senator Idris Umar; Hon. Mohammed Kumalia; Captain Yahaya Abubakar; Alhaji Musa Halilu (Dujima Adamawa); and Alhaji Salisu Makarfi.
The delegation later joined Buhari for Juma’ah prayers at a Kaduna mosque.
This visit comes shortly after governors of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), under the Progressives Governors’ Forum, also paid homage to Buhari during the Sallah break. Their meeting had earlier stirred speculation about a possible revival of Buhari’s former party, the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), which merged with other parties in 2013 to form the APC.
