Atiku Applauds Governor Adeleke for Defying Police Warning, Proceeding with Osun LG Election
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has commended Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, for proceeding with the state’s local government election despite opposition and a warning from the Nigeria Police.
The police had advised against holding the election, but the state government went ahead with the polls as scheduled.
A document shared by the governor’s special assistant, Olalekan Badmus, on his 𝕏 handle, allegedly from the police, instructed officers to prevent any gatherings for the election. Titled ‘No Election Tomorrow,’ the document directed officers to report to the Police Area Command Office by 0500hrs on February 22, 2025, to ensure no one assembled for the election.
Atiku Abubakar, in his reaction, emphasized the importance of a peaceful and orderly conduct of the election.
