APC grateful to PDP for lending Wike to us – Oshiomhole
Senator Adams Oshiomhole on Friday praised the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for lending former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, to the Bola Tinubu administration.
Oshiomhole, who spoke at a New Year’s luncheon organised in Port Harcourt by the minister of the Federal Capital Territory, commended Wike for his contributions to President Tinubu’s administration.
According to him, Wike has remained a valuable asset to the ruling party and the present administration, especially, considering some of his efforts in the FCT.
Oshiomhole said Wike is an asset borrowed from the PDP, praising the opposition for lending Wike to serve in the All Progressives Congress-led government.
“Thank you to PDP for giving us Nyesom Wike to help us fix Abuja. I don’t belong to any club, I only belong to Bendel Insurance but I listen to those who say they are Manchester United fans [and the likes].
“When you are giving your best player to another club, you pay heavily.
“Thank you for what you’re helping us in APC to do. PDP Rivers led you to us without saying we should pay a transfer fee,” Oshiomhole said.
The senator said the APC would not be happy to allow Wike return to the PDP as he has contributed a lot to the government of President Tinubu.
He said, “We may not be happy to return you; we would even create a toll gate to prevent that.”
Omokri says Peter Obi is the official opposition, says He has retired some politicians
Reno Omokri, a former media aide to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan and a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said Peter Obi, the former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, made himself the official opposition.
Omokri, who had previously worked for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in previous presidential elections, made the statement on social media.
Omokri said Obi is the official opposition, saying that any other politician who thinks they are a bigger opposition figure is simply incorrect.
The social commentator, in a Facebook post on Friday, said he admires Obi’s determination and resilience in the face of obstacles, which is a turnaroundof his consistentopposition to the LP presidential candidate.
According to him, “Peter Obi is currently the Number One opposition figure in Nigeria. Bar none. Anybody in any opposition party who thinks that he is bigger than Obi right now is just deluded.”
Omokri also said some politicians in opposition parties have already been “retired” by Obi, but are kept on “political life support” by their wealth.
But Omokri warned Obi to be less Igbo-centric, and caution his supporters to use persuasive language, and apologize for his previous comment on religious war.
Omokri said, “If only he could be less Igbo-centric, appeal to his Obidients to use persuasive rather than abusive words and admit, then apologise for his ‘Yes Daddy” religious war’ comment against the Muslim Ummah, he would go far.”
