Another fuel tanker explodes in Enugu, killing scores
Another fuel tanker explosion has claimed yet to be confirmed number of persons at Ugwu Onyeama, Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State, a few kilometres from the Enugu metropolis, on Saturday.
Eyewitness accounts said the effects of the explosion were devastating, destroying many nearby vehicles, besides many persons that died.
Witmesses said the accident occurred around 11:30 a.m., when a tanker laden with petrol exploded on the very busy road.
The rescue efforts were said to have been hindered by the intensity of the inferno, making the victims to burnt beyond recognition.
As at press time, the police and road safety authorities were yet to confirm the number of casualties or the cause of the explosion.
