The Ogun State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party during the 2023 election, Oladipupo Adebutu, has described the death of the Iyalode of Yorubaland, Chief Alaba Lawson, as a great loss.

Chief Lawson died early Saturday morning, aged 72.

A statement by his media aide, Afolabi Orekoya, quoted Adebutu as saying that the life and times of the late educationist and business magnate was “a testament to the power of determination, education, service to community and humanity”.

He said Lawson’s contributions as an entrepreneur, educationist, and leader at various levels of the Chambers of Commerce have left an indelible mark in the sands of history.

Adebutu added that Lawson’s journey from her early education at St. James’s African Primary School in Abeokuta to becoming the first African student to achieve a 1st Class Diploma in Education with distinction at St. Nicholas Montessori Teachers’ Training College in England remains an inspiration to all.
