Ailing Wife Not Told of Adebanjo’s Death Yet

The death of Chief Ayo Adebanjo is yet to be disclosed to his wife, Chief (Mrs) Christy Adebanjo.
The Afenifere chieftain died on Saturday, February 14, 2025, in Lagos.
Indications, however, are that the widow of the late pro-democracy champion and nationalist, Chief Adebanjo, is yet to be informed of his death, a day after, on Sunday.
Indeed, the widow, who is 93 years old, was ill at the time of his death, according to Sunday Vanguard.
A family member told the newspaper that Chrisy Adebanjo had yet to be informed of the news of the death of her husband, a development seen as the end of an era in Nigeria.
The report confirmed that, “Mama has not been told the news of Baba’s death because she is also sick. She is in the hospital.”
The family source, however, said: “They will not break the news to her because of her illness.”
The family described the late politician as a great family man, an irreplaceable community leader and a dependable fighter for the common good of his people.
They noted that the late elder statesman facilitated the construction of roads, schools and hospitals in their community.
The news of the death of Pa Adebanjo has been described as the end of an era in Nigeria as he was generally seen as the last nationalist in the struggle for Nigeria’s independence.
