After visit to Nigeria, U.S. lawmakers to report on alleged Christian persecution
A delegation from the U.S. House Appropriations Committee conducted a fact-finding visit to Nigeria over the weekend, focusing on allegations of Christian persecution and genocide.
The mission aims to inform a report and policy recommendations for President Donald Trump.
In a statement, the Committee shared a post by Congressman Riley Moore, a member of the delegation, who lamented that over 600,000 people in Benue State have been displaced by what he described as “genocidal Fulani terrorists.”
The Committee emphasized that “America will not look away” and that religious freedom is central to its policy.
Moore stated that the visit’s focus was on strategies to combat terrorism and halt the killing of Christians. He reported meeting with victims in Benue State.
The Nigerian government under President Bola Tinubu has consistently denied allegations of Christian persecution and genocide in the country.
