Abdulaziz Ganduje, son of ex-APC National Chairman, picks NDC form to contest House of Reps seat
Abdulaziz Umar Ganduje, the eldest son of former All Progressives Congress national chairman Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has obtained a nomination form to contest for a House of Representatives seat under the National Democratic Congress.
He is seeking to represent the Dawakin Tofa/Tofa/Rimin Gado Federal Constituency in Kano State.
Despite his father’s long-standing role in the APC, Abdulaziz has remained a loyal and committed member of the Kwankwasiyya political movement.
A viral video showed him speaking with the movement’s leader, former Kano governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, shortly after collecting the form.
In the video, he reportedly informed Kwankwaso of his political ambitions and preparations for the upcoming general election.
The move marks another significant chapter in the ongoing political rivalry between Ganduje and Kwankwaso, two influential Kano leaders whose once-strong partnership broke down years ago.
Abdulaziz has distanced himself from his father’s political camp for years, consistently aligning with the Kwankwasiyya movement.
His political stance became more pronounced after a public fallout with his mother, Professor Hafsat Umar Ganduje, whom he reported to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over an alleged breach of agreement.
He is now running for the same seat that his brother, Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, contested in 2023 as an APC candidate.
Umar lost that election to an NNPP candidate, despite their father being governor at the time and wielding significant political influence.
