This against the 145 million naira bulk ransom earlier placed on them by their abductors.

The bandits had on Monday demanded the sum of N145 million naira ransom before the kidnapped victims could be released from their captivity.

The chairman of the GSM Communication Union, Gusau Local Government Area, Mr. Mustapha Khalifa, confirmed this, saying that the bandits actually reduced the ransom to 60 million naira.

He explained that the union leadership had been in contact with the kidnappers to ensure that their members regained their freedom.

Indeed, the victims in the bandits’ dens are all youths within the ages of 20 and 40.

They were abducted at Dogon Awo, a village bordering Sokoto and Zamfara States, Saturday evening, while returning from a wedding ceremony in Sokoto State.

However, 20 of the phone sellers and repairers narrowly escaped from the bandits.

The local vigilante group, popularly known as “Yansakai” also chased the bandits to their hideouts on Saturday evening and rescued seven of the kidnapped victims in the forests.
