When Power Mongers Regroup: Inside the ADC Circus

INEC Officially Recognizes David Mark as New ADC Chairman, Endorses New Leadership

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has formally ratified the new national leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), led by former Senate President David Mark as its National Chairman.

This official endorsement, confirmed on Wednesday, concludes a period of internal party restructuring and paves the way for the new executives to begin a nationwide reconciliation and mobilization drive.

The move is aimed at strengthening the party’s position ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The commission’s updated records now acknowledge the following officials:

· David Mark – National Chairman

· Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola – National Secretary

· Dr. Ibrahim Mani – National Treasurer

· Akibu Dalhatu – National Financial Secretary

· Professor Oserheimen Aigberaodion Osunbor – National Legal Adviser

This transition was initiated on July 2nd when the former National Chairman, Ralph Nwosu, announced that he and his executive committee had voluntarily resigned to allow for a “fresh direction and leadership.”

He named Mark and Aregbesola as interim chairman and secretary, respectively.

INEC’s recognition was delayed because the new leadership had not initially submitted the complete documentation required by electoral guidelines.

Until Wednesday, the commission’s official list still featured the old executives, including Ralph Nwosu as Chairman and Said Abdullahi as Secretary.

Under INEC regulations, political parties must provide formal documentation—including resolutions, verified signatures, and proof of due process—for leadership changes to be officially recognized.
