Actress Osas Ighodaro recalled that her first on-screen kiss experience in Nollywood was really strange.
Osas said she was surprised about how the actor dipped his tongue during the scene beyond what was generally acceptable in the acting profession.
Indeed, Osa had acted in the United States before relocating to Nigeria in 2012, and featured on Nigeria’s long running soap Tinsel.
Osa, who spoke on a episode of The Culture League podcast, said the incident was her first shock in Nigeria’s film industry.
According to her, “My first on-screen kiss in Nigeria took me by surprise. Though, I knew the kiss was coming and I was prepared for an ‘on-screen kiss.
“In my experience, you are not supposed to put your tongue down somebody’s mouth. But the person did. On the basic level, if you are going to do an on-screen kiss you talk about it, ‘Oh I’m going to put my tongue in your mouth.’ But if you don’t talk about it then you know it’s the basics.”
The screen diva began her acting career in the United States where she featured in projects such as Cadillac Records before moving to Nigeria where she gained fame with Tinsel.
She has also featured in Rattlesnake: The Ahanna Story and Man of God, winning the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Award (AMVCA) for Best Actress in a Drama in 2022 and 2023.
Osa, a former Miss Black USA pageant winner, is also known for her work as a TV host and humanitarian
