Customs’ Kirikiri Terminal Generates N89.2bn in Six Months, Records 63% Revenue Growth

The Kirikiri Lighter Terminal (KLT) of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) generated N89.2 billion revenue in the first half of 2025, marking a significant increase from the N54.8 billion recorded in the same period in 2024.

Area Controller Eghosa Edelduok disclosed this during the presentation of the command’s half-year operational report, attributing the 63% revenue growth to improved efficiency, stricter compliance, and strategic enforcement measures.

Edelduok stated that reforms, targeted anti-smuggling operations, and enhanced compliance strategies contributed to the remarkable performance.

“The N89.2 billion collected between January and June 2025 reflects a N34.4 billion increase compared to last year’s N54.81 billion, demonstrating our heightened operational effectiveness,” she said.

On anti-smuggling efforts, the command intercepted two forty-foot containers (HLBU 1067338 and HLBU 2239792) carrying expired pharmaceuticals with a Duty Paid Value (DPV) of N130 million.

The seized items, which violated the Nigeria Customs Service Act 2023, were handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further action.

Edelduok reaffirmed the command’s commitment to enforcing trade laws, safeguarding public health, and maintaining professionalism. She also pledged continued collaboration with stakeholders and partner agencies to enhance trade facilitation and economic growth.

Appreciating stakeholders for their support, she emphasized the command’s dedication to national security, economic development, and service excellence in line with the NCS’s broader objectives.
